Sounding at times like a Joplin without the rasp, Amy Black’s polished but powerful pipes strike a nice balance between roots and more pop-like postures. Much the same could be said about the ‘Bama-bred singer’s songwriting, matching soul with style. Standouts include “Nobody Knows You”, “These Walls are Falling Down” and “Stronger”.
