Review of Album Just Gettin' Good

Mighty Mike Schermer knows his way around classic r&b and soul styles and the veteran guitarist/singer/songwriter endows these forms with smart song-crafting, mostly on the “up” side emotionally.  Good vibes predominate on the title track as well as on “Leave More (Than You Take Away)”, “The Hungry Dog” and- regardless of the title- “Tired Of Travellin’”.  His convincing vocals seal the deal on a classic-sounding ballad, “This Is Where My Love Is” and he switches mood gears masterfully on “Silence”.  Axe work and big-sound studio backup are solid.
