Review of Album Ain't Nobody Worried

On the third volume in Ms. Block’s “Power Women of the Blues” series the celebrated vocalist/multi-instrumentalist puts on an appealing one-woman show celebrating songs from the 60’s through the 80’s, frequently entering pop territory.  Acoustically-fronted versions of the Staple Singers’ “I’ll Take You There”, Carole King’s “You’ve Got A Friend” and the Mary Wells classic hit “My Guy”, among others, exude consistent charm as well as vitality.  But her own darker-hued “Lovin’ Whiskey” is a subtle show-stealer.
