Review of Album Dirt Woman Blues

Ireland-born Grainne Duffy’s vocals transit from scrappy to soulful as the situation requires, infusing a refreshing set of originals, co-written with guitarist and spouse Paul Sherry, with constant, convincing emotional heat. The fetching chorus hook of the leadoff track, “Well Well Well”, should score it instant airplay as should the haunting character of the title track.  Other tracks of note include “What’s It Going To Be?” and “Sweet Liberation”. A “Best of The Year” candidate.
