Review of Album Damn Good and Ready

With the pipes of an early-days rock balladeer, Chickenbone Slim melds those broad-shouldered throwback vocals with lyric sets that range from reliably roots-bound to highly individual in vision.  Rousing roadhouse fare such as “I’m Buying”, “Let’s Go Lindy” and the title track are stacked alongside the curiously thought-provoking “Drink Me” and the contemplative “Rather Be Up”.  The band at all times provides rock-solid backup, sparked by the work of guitar ace Laura Chavez.
