Mississippi-bred singer/guitarist Johnny Rawls maintains a steady high simmer as he struts his way through a solid set of journeyman soul.  He calls on Curtis Mayfield, figuratively and literally, on the set’s urgent, minor-keyed title track and takes on the challenge of covering Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson gems ("Having A Party", “Higher and Higher”).  Mr. Rawls’ old-school originals and collaborations predominate. Standing out among these are “Born To The Blues”, “Red Cadillac” and "Every Woman Needs A Working Man”.
