Review of Album Weight of the World

Roots music vets Cahalen Morrison, Jim Miller and Ethan Lawton match each others’ undeniable songwriting savvy on a set that exudes classic sawdust-joint soul from start to finish.  Road-toughened vocals and time-honored country themes meet up with cut-or-two-above lyric crafting from each of WC’s frontmen.  Morrison’s Waylon-esque title track should garner attention, as should his “What Will They Say About Us Now?”.  Miller’s mournful yet light-hearted “Knocking ‘Em Down” and Lawton’s similarly inclined “In My Cups” sport ear-catching vocal choruses reminiscent of The Band.
