Review of Album Blueberry Pie

 

Guitarist/vocalist Simon Campbell, bassist/vocalist Suzy Starlite and company lay down solid grooves that frequently evoke the jazz and r&b strands that have been an element of British blues since its formative days (think Graham Bond for one).  This notion is enhanced by the presence of key sideman keyboardist Jonny Henderson.  The plentiful grooves are synced up with smart lyric sets and Mr. Campbell’s multi-voiced axe work. Standouts include “Walkin’ Out The Door”, “Cry Over You” and Ms. Starlite’s minor-keyed vocal feature “Guilty”.
