Review of Album Made to Last

One of the first to cross-pollinate blues and fusion music, guitarist/vocalist Robben Ford maintains his fresh slant on genre blending on his current five-track EP release. A pair of songs associated with the legendary Lightnin’ Hopkins are re-cast, respectively, as a funky rocker- “Good Times” and as a simmering slow-to-medium tempo piece- "Automobile Blues".  Willie Dixon’s “Crazy For My Baby” gets a sassy shuffle-beat treatment.  Saxophonist Jeff Coffin provides a tasty second voice to Ford’s own formidable, multicolored work.
