Review of Album Still I Rise

The already crowded top tier of female blues vocalists will have to make way for another occupant as Brigitte Purdy elbows her way in.  Equally at ease with spitfire blues and sophisticated soul, the LA-bred Ms. Purdy hits the hardest in the ballad zone here on “Last Time”, one of a number of strong collaborations with producer Dave Osti.  The scorcher “Get It Understood” and the breezy “Blues Angel” stand out as well as does the title track.
