Review of Album 7 Minutes Late

The one-time frontman for Levon Helm’s Barnburners sets a considerably high bar for blues releases this young year with a set of originals both varied in style and consistent in top-notch songcraft- with a fiery harp chorus frequently thrown in for good measure.  Mr. O’s fronting skills are on full display, posturing his way through “Second Time Around”, Memphis soul veins are tapped on “Unbelievable” and the title track is an intoxicating piece of blues-noir.  Other tough tracks on an exceptional set include “Bones”, “Your Day Will Come” and “Heartbreak Waiting to Happen”.
