Review of Album Hell Bound for Heaven

Canadian multi-instrumentalist blues masters Harry Manx and Steve Marriner make for a formidable duo, serving up some first-rate adaptations and dropping some fetching originals as well. Of the latter, Mr. Manx’s “Everybody Knows” and Mr. Mariner’s title track seem the surest airplay bets.  Workups of Charley Patton’s “Rattlesnake Blues” and the Rev. Gary Davis’ “Death Have No Mercy In This Land” grab the ear as well.
