Florida-based Selwyn Birchwood unquestionably possesses the vocal and guitar chops prerequisite for raw urban blues combustion.  Top that off with further prowess on lap steel and a song style range from the boogie-based title track to a very Tom Waits-ian “Walking In The Lion’s Den” to a vintage soul ballad- “Love Me Again” and the evidence mounts for a fresher-than-average blues release.  Contributing in a major way to this freshness is the presence of sax man Regi Oliver, whose baritone axe, in particular, adds an extremely tasty touch.
