Review of Album At the End of the River

Cajun music is dance music, and a red-hot, lively band from Louisiana making a worldwide name for itself today wisely incorporates elements of rock, R&B and even country to achieve wide appeal. One of the more versatile groups in the Cajun genre, The Revelers give us a seamless contemporary mix of blues and roots oriented flair to develop their signature sound. Singularly, each of the six band members has an impressive background and talent. Together, the band really hustles with plenty of original musical punch infused with accordion, fiddle, saxophone, guitar, bass and drums. Whether lyrics are in French or English, their remarkably powerful songs keep the party going.  A high-geared number like “Southside Stomp” has plenty of get-up-and-go, while “Blake’s Blues” and “I Wouldn’t Do That To You” are haunting. “Who Who, Yea You” is unadulterated swamp rock ‘n roll, and “She’s A Woman” will find airplay on country stations. Not forgetting their cultural identity and connecting the dots to the past, traditional lyrics are put to music in “Goodnight, Little World.” The Revelers are a versatile band with a feisty Cajun/rock blend.   (Joe Ross, Roots Music Report)
